What makes the difference between giving power or shattering a person into a thousand tiny pieces?
Partly it's what is in the person, what they choose. Life is about making hard choices and dealing with hard things. But something that improves a person's chances of adversity becoming a vehicle for growth is a person's friends and support system.
For this, I would like to thank each and every one of you.
A little over a week ago, while I was trying to drum up enough energy to get some writing done, a sharp pain in my back made me forget about everything else. Of course, my spouse creature was at work and wouldn't be home for about two more hours, because that's how trips to the doctor's office work--in the dead of the night at the most inopportune time possible.
Prior to this, I truly believed there could be no worse pain than that of being in labor. The kidney stones (what they lack in being lethal, they more than make up for in attitude) I'd developed proved me wrong.
So, there I was, feeling sorry for myself. I'd been stressing prior to this while I was trying to get the last two books in The Fairy Godmother Dilemma series up (we won't talk about deadlines right now :p), and feeling a bit like a failure. You know that little imp that sits on your shoulder and whispers, "If you just tried a little harder, applied yourself a little more, weren't so lazy . . ."
Yeah, that imp. It had been crooning in my ear for a couple of months. And then the kidney stones (and later a cold) hit, bringing any productivity I might have had to a screeching halt.
All might have been lost (at least for a little while), but then my adorable spouse creature buckled on his armor and charged into the distance on his white steed. He knew I'd been down, had been worried about getting my books up and then having to tackle getting the word out, and felt crummy physically.
He also knew that authors tend to do blog tours to get word out about their books. So he arranged one for me.
Only, instead of me having to do all the work that's involved in setting up a tour, he took care of that. (Thank you to all of the people who were willing to help out. And thank you, Diana for designing such a lovely button.) And, not only that, but he took care of the posts too. Yes, this is probably the first Spouse of the Author Creature Blog Tour in the history of blog tours.

Words are so inadequate to describe how much each one of you has brightened my day and how grateful I am for all of your support. Thank you feels so small, but it is meant with all that is in me.
Thank you. :)
